Kmart Update Again

I figured out that the best way to check out at the register is to have the cashier scan one item, press total and then scan the coupon for that item.

This method seems to work better and ensure that all coupons take off the correct amount instead of having the cashier take off all of your coupons at the end as usual.

Build Your Coupon Stash

Recently I tried a new frozen pizza - Bernatello's. Their garlic flavor is soooooo good!

I decided to go to the Bernatello's website and e-mail them a compliment. In my e-mail I asked if they would consider sending a coupon or two. This was last Wednesday.

To my surprise I received an e-mail back on Friday saying thanks for the compliment and coupons are on their way.

Yesterday (six days after my original e-mail) I received the above coupons. One is for a free bernatello's pizza up to a $3.99 value!

I have e-mailed a few companies before and almost all have sent coupons after I asked for them.

It doesn't hurt to visit websites of your favorite products and send them an e-mail. It doesn't take long. I see it like this...for 1-2 minutes of my time, I earned a free pizza. Yay!

Coupon Booklet Found at Cub Foods

Yesterday I found this coupon booklet put out by Pillsbury at Cub Foods. It has 21 coupons in it for items like Yoplait, Totinos, GoGurt, Bisquick and Pillsbury. They all expire 10/26/08.

I found it next to the regular weekly Cub Ads. I always find tearpad coupons up front by the weekly ads. Make it a habit to check there whenever you enter the store. You never know what you may find.

One coupon of interest in this booklet is the $1/2 Old El Paso products coupon.

Old El Paso seasoning taco mix (1-oz) is on sale this week, three for $1.98 or $.66 each.

Buy two for $1.32.
Use $1/2 coupon
= $.16 each!

All KMART Stores Doubling? Read This!

Another update: it appears that ALL Kmarts are participating in the Double Coupon Deals from Oct. 1-5!

See
THIS post for the rules. Then see THIS one for my experiences.

Be sure to call your store to make sure they are participating...just in case.

Update: Kmart Double Coupons

I went to Kmart today to take advantage of the double coupon days.

I got about $110 worth of stuff for $36. I was a little disapointed though because when I reviewed my receipt at home, I noticed that about $7 more should have been taken off my total.

Kmart's system for doubling is VERY difficult for the cashiers.

This is how it worked:

The cashier scanned my first coupon and the register asked her to pick which item I purchased-from a list of items! For example, I bought Glade Carpet Fresh for $2.19. The coupon I had was for $1. The cashier scanned the coupon and the list came up. She was supposed to know which item I used that coupon for and select it from the list. (How could she remember?--I could barely remember!) If she got it wrong, then sometimes a lower amount was deducted. There was no way for her to fix this at that moment.

This went on and on for all items (I had 48). I tried to help her but the list that comes up is filled with abbreviations for products, making it very difficult to get right everytime. Check-out probably took 15 minutes.

I decided not to take issue at the customer service desk because I had been there for 2 hours shopping and had to leave.

So, some might say - "be happy you got $110 worth of stuff for $36". AND I AM! But, then again I did take a lot of time figuring out my transactions and Kmart's sign says all coupons $2 or less will be doubled.

So will I go back and ask for an adjustment? Probably not. I would spend the $7 I missed out on in gas to get there.

Lesson learned? Make several transactions. Buy about 10 items or less at a time.

Retail Me Not!

RetailMeNot is a site I love to check when doing shopping online, especially during the holiday season (only 85 days till Christmas!)

There are promo codes for over 15,000 stores listed on their site.

All you have to do is go to retailmenot.com and do a search for the store you're looking for.

Before you buy anything online, I suggest looking at this site to see if there is a code to get a discount.

The other nice thing is that people leave comments on which codes worked for them. The site gives you a success rate percentage of people who have reported back after using a particular promo code.

My new favorite part about RetailMeNot is the printable coupon section. Click on "printable" in the categories area from the home page or go HERE.

I found some good printables to take to the store for JC Penney, Papa Murphy's, Sherwin Williams and even Kashi!

K-Mart - Doubling Coupons: $2 = $4!

Wow - I have heard about K-Mart doing double coupon days for a while now throughout the blogosphere but never has it come to a store near me!

I'm very excited to report that SOME K-Marts in the Twin Cities are now participating on October 1-5.

Here are the stores I found (for you local readers):

White Bear Lake K-Mart
3201
White Bear Avenue

St. Paul K-Mart
245 E. Maryland

New Hope K-Mart
4300 Xylon Lane

Here are the rules:
- Coupons up to $2 will be doubled
- 75 coupons per day per customer can be doubled
- Maximum of four coupons can be doubled on like-items (meaning only 4 plain boxes of Cheerios, etc)
- Internet printable coupons will not be honored
- One manufacturer coupon per item is allowed
- Coupon total after doubling cannot exceed the price of the item

Wow! I can do some serious damage with this!

Gather your coupons now, especiallty the $1-$2 ones!

Walgreens Rebates - The Easy Way

Walgreens offers free-after-rebate (FAR) items every month. These items change each month.

You can find out what these items are by picking up the monthly EasySaver catalog at the front of the store.

It can be a daunting task to keep up with which items to buy and be able to keep track of them when it's time to send in for your rebate.

The easiest, simplest way to participate is to simply buy the FAR items every month and use your rebate money loaded on a gift card to buy next month's FAR items and so on and so on.

For example, this month FAR items are:

- L'Oreal Cleaners - Pay $6.99, get $6.99
- Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation - Pay $7.49, get $7.49
- Extreme Energy 6-Hour Shot - Pay $3.99, get $3.99
Total = $18.47 + tax OOP (out of pocket - if you have coupons, the OOP will be even lower)

Submit these items for rebate (form inside EasySaver book) and select payment by Walgreens gift card. Choosing the gift card earns you an extra 10% back. Your $18.47 becomes $20.32.

Next month, buy the FAR items using the $20.32 on your card. Keep doing that every month and you will end up with many free items and not have to pay much out of pocket except for your original $18.47.

Some months the FAR items will cost more or less than what you have on your card. If it's more, you can choose to pay some money and have a larger rebate amount or you can just buy the items you want to stay within the amount you have on your card.

If you get comfortable with the process, there are many other items to buy and get a certain dollar amount in the form of a rebate.

For minimal work, this is a nice way to get lots of things free after your initial investment of $18.47.

**You can also choose to enter your rebates online HERE.

Make sure to save all receipts and circle the item you purchased on the receipt. Read the instructions in the EasySaver catalog to make sure you submit properly.
